News

It is our Magic Science Week next week and we are really grateful for all the donations of plastic bottles and glass jars! We are looking forward to having lots of fun while learning some new science skills and concepts.
Remember to wear your wizard costume on Wednesday.

Literacy
Linking to our history topic we are now learning about William Shakespeare.  Each class has studied the beginning of ‘The Tempest’ and used pictures to create vivid descriptions of the storm conjured by Prospero.  We thought back to our work in September on adjectives, similes and metaphors to write sentences and paragraphs of description that used all of the senses.

Mathematics

In Mrs Prowle’s group, we have been continuing to practise our division skills. Some of us are starting to use larger numbers and finding answers with remainders.
In Mrs Williams and Mrs Gilder’s group we have been learning about fractions.  We did some outdoor fractions which we are all keen to try at home.

In Mrs Roche’s group we have been working on multiplication.

Science

Maple Class made different string telephones this week using their investigative skills to work out how to make the best phone. Some of us tested different cups while others looked at the difference the type or length of string made to the sound quality. We had lots of fun making the phones and were really surprised by how well they worked!

Lime class looked at how much sugar is in drinks.  We then put hard-boiled eggs into different drinks and left them for a week.

History Projects

We are all working hard on our projects in between rehearsals for The Emerald Crown. There is some fantastic research going on and the teachers can’t wait to read them and, hopefully, learn something new themselves!
